Museum trip

Hi, everyone today me and my classroom went to the Tairawhiti Museum. We went there to learn about the Maori instruments from back in the days, we even got to have a turn with one of the Maori instruments it was called Putatara, we also were able to make our own Maori instrument and they were called Purerehua.

This is a photo of one of the hues, this is no ordinary hue because if you look very closely it has been carved so it is very special to the Maori people and the Maori culture.

  1. Hi Marcus,
Yes, I did have a closer look at the photo and I did see the carvings on it. I wonder how long ago it was done?
I imagine you learnt lots about Maori instruments back in the day. Pleased that you got to have a turn with the Putatara, and hope it wasn't too tricky to play.
I'm wondering if you got to have a look at Wyllie cottage?
